Recruitment Videos

From “how to” tips to online education to promotion of products and brands, video is a powerful vehicle for communicating with consumers of all types.  It’s particularly powerful for connecting with Millennials and GenZ.  View the tabs below to learn more about how we are incorporating video throughout the recruitment process.

Video email with Covideo

In 2016, we first piloted the use of Covideo, a video email tool that allows for the simple incorporation of video into emails to help differentiate our outreach, personalize the experience and increase response rates.  We have licenses for up to 200 users but despite the easy interface and great success many have had using the tool, we continue to see underutilization of the tool.  Our team continues to promote the tool and share best practices and use cases with licensed users to increase usage.

The case for video email:

Feedback from some of our users:
"Many candidates to whom I’ve sent CoVideos respond and are impressed! I have gotten responses after using the Video from candidates who had not responded before, so I’d say it’s a successful tool."    - Catherine Phillips
"5 of 6 of my candidates responded after I used video emails where earlier they had been unresponsive to my previous emails."    - Sam Russell
"A passive candidate from PWC shared that she responded for the first time to a recruiter email after receiving the Covideo message.  She said it made all the difference in how she could see the enthusiasm I had for the firm, but also the creativity and innovation of Deloitte to use the product as a recruitment tool."    - Barb Aldworth
A Manager level consulting professional currently working at Accenture shared that he’s never been approached via a video email.  His response: “Cool video feature!  Never seen that before!”  - Laurie A. Davis

Compelling job videos

Job postings are the first impression a job seeker has about an organization and are a powerful influencer in determining whether or not to apply.  According to the Talent Board,

64% of candidates say job posting are the most important type of employer content while learning about Deloitte career opportunities.

Video content can help bring life to job profiles and offer candidates a view into an organization and compelling information about roles.  Job profile videos educate candidates and compel them to apply to “good fit” roles by sharing greater insight into the business area, introducing some of the key responsibilities / day in the life of the role and answering questions such as Why Deloitte? Why that business area?  and What do we look for?.  As reported by Lighthouse Research,

A hiring manager welcome video would make a candidate 46% more likely to
consider the job.

Working with video vendor SkillScout, we developed a pilot job profile video for Cloud and plan to develop similar videos for all priority hiring profiles.

Video vendors

As we continue to extend the use of video throughout the recruitment process, we are testing out a variety of different vendors that offer scalable video solutions.  Here are a few of the vendors we are exploring for video creation:

  • Skill Scout - Skill Scout is a true DIY solution.  They send a video kit to a Deloitte professional including a mic, tripod, and tips on capturing good video.  Video footage is uploaded to their app and then they edit the video. (see job posting video example)

  • Stories Inc. - A more traditional video vendor that conducts onsite video shoots that they produce and deliver.  Their secret sauce is a focus on storytelling and drawing out authentic video content. (USDC video shoot in April 2018)

  • SeenIt - A vendor with an app that allows a team to request video or images from employees around specific topics that can then be turned into recruitment brand videos or content campaigns. (Piloting in summer 2018)

In addition to these up and coming vendors, we continue to partner with recruitment brand agencies to develop more highly produced videos.

The case for video:

Steady rise in video consumption:

80% of all internet users watch videos daily

Strength of video channels:

YouTube has over 1 billion users and has experienced a 60% increase in total number of hours viewed in the past year alone

Improves site “stickiness”

Internet users spend 88% more time on sites with video

THE vehicle for Millennials

Millennials watch far more online video, averaging 356 videos per month -- 100 more than 35- to-54-year-olds.
